OOC: shadow thangs

OKAY BROS

WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED

Team, crazy shit that went down, etc.  I'm going to put up a floor breakdown in a bit so you can get a feel for what the team went through.  :>  More than willing to work out anything extra.

EDIT: Some basic notes on what happened.  Floor dialogue will be up sometime within the next week.

10 floors; the number of sephiroth in the tree of life for the kabbalah
80+ level dungeon nonstop
militaristic looking, very grey and unwelcoming
mini-boss on floor 4; Minotaur
monsters get significantly harder starting floor 5 (more resistances and blocks), symbolic of how difficult it is to gain his trust and reach inner sanctum of his mind
lots of hostility towards the girls of the party
definite feeling of going down and deeper into dungeon rather than up, heading to the cage where Eva is held therefore it'd be deep underground
orange-ish tint to fog; as team gets further, the smell of blood will become overwhelming to the point where some people might feel sick
gimmick floor, 7th: seems like one short hallway at first with single chest at the end, once opened, rest of floor becomes visible BUT switch is triggered; rapidly filling with undiluted LCL so exploring and fighting Shadows on this floor very limited
stairs are elevators, have huge TV screens in them, how Shadow!Shinji communicates with team until they reach boss battle

Uhhh. Well, from talking to you it sounds like Team "We're Not Here, Really!" slammed into a wall around floor five. And probably promptly got their asses handed to them on likely floor ... Eight? If I'm calculating this properly? Anyway, I should suspect that they had to backtrack to the fox after that and kind of spend their time level grinding discreetly (lmfao) around floor seven ... And then built up enough level leverage to at least continue to clear what floors were left.

I have no idea whether or not you wanted them to reach him, but I think it would kind of interesting. Probably be like: wtf when people got down there because they ... Could have just taken him back to the hub and waited just before the other team got there to leave. :|b

Anyway, I am assuming unfortunate amounts of retaliation on their persons? Especially since you said he would be primarily aiming for the girls? But, you know. Kaworu being Kaworu probably snatched up a good portion of that when they were at some kind of critical level if they allowed him, lol. So, I'm going to assume that they got dealt a lot of damage all around, but with most of it originally aimed at Asuka and Yukari? :|a

/throws some starting ideas around

As of now, Minako's ICly signed up to go after him and she knows that Kaworu has scanning capabilities. Team "We're Not Here, Really!" might have to fold into it since she can't do it all herself.... And knowing all the shit the Eva crew is going through, Kaworu might be able to get away with the anonymity. Dunno though.

WE NEED TO HAVE DISCUSSIONS

Everything else though is on the money.

Heeeeey, Minako just told him Shinji was a Shadow! He kinda assigned it to her!

[identity profile] childrenoflilim.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
lol, well, you know Cross. And seeing how his Shadow is really strong anyway, she might want to be on that team.

Ah, I see. Yeah. I noted that Yukari namedropped him to Minako. :|a

However, with that mention of him by name, she actually created a catch-22. While Kaworu is very much determined to go on ahead and save Shinji in this context, this issue of an "outsider" now gaining knowledge of his name in direct correlation to Shinji (beyond those who saw the timeline previously) has caused this. Especially considering her personal investment in Shinji.

In that respect, Kaworu has to consider a few new consequences: If "Kaworu" is not introduced, then he won't have to worry about the repercussions immediately beyond a piqued interest as to who the masked individual is (which is infinitely more preferable than: "why is he wearing a mask?"). However, the use of his name in conjunction to the mask now brings suspicion for the future. When Kaworu's inevitably introduced passingly onto the community by Shinji, the possibility of him being told that he seems "questionable" rises pretty exponentially and that is decidedly not a very good thing. sob.

Kaworu being Kaworu would have that all thought out, naturally. So, his participation now comes down to what is more important. Both scenarios are bad ones, even in the theoretical. So, the only way to avoid it is to claim another scanner was discovered, because Kaworu can't even begin to guess at calculating Minako's response when he doesn't know her personally.

Another way out would be a positive response or a respect for their protection of the timeline. However, this is also unable to be calculated. And, really, for an outsider (and the fact that Kaworu is extremely reluctant to answer any questions/take any risks with Shinji), that kind of explanation has a very high chance of going over like a lead balloon. There's also the fact he doesn't know if she would leave it at "because it is necessary" and not just continue to pry and eventually transfer this information to Shinji (on purpose or by accident).

However, the reality of it is that he knows that he'll be needed and that he can't let Shinji die. So, either of these two scenarios would have to occur. Naturally, he leans heavily toward the first option because that way there are no unnecessary risks taken. He can't afford the luxury of chance with Shinji or the timeline, after all. :c

Even if Instrumentality blows, it's got to happen. Poor bb.

That sums up about everything really.

If it comes down to it, Minako won't question things too much if Yukari trusts him. After all, Yukari is someone she trusts without doubt.

Besides, she knows all about keeping things secret if it's really necessary, especially if it deals with humanity surviving.
